I don’t think she’s trying to ‘fix’ him because it will make their relationship easier for her, but because she cares too deeply and can see that Roman is pretty miserable. The problem here though, is that Tabitha wants to help Roman so bad and Roman is resistant to that help because it feels unnatural to him. She’s constantly trying to ease the tension, make him feel less awkward, offer him advice and try to get him to work through his issues (“Do you think this is the way to get people to stay?”) and I believe that it’s one of the reasons why she stays with him for so long- she’s let bad things happen to people that she cares about in the past (she had a thing with Naomi, who is an addict and subsequently got in an awful car accident) and she doesn’t want Roman to go down a similar path. She sees Roman as someone she wants to ‘solve’ (“I’m not uninterested in solving you”) and I think that she sees her part in the dynamic as a caretaker, someone who needs to help him. I think she’s got a bit of a saviour complex thing going on- whether it’s conscious or not.
